The agreement between you and Stage Company™. Version 1.1, last updated 23 September 2026.
Stage Company™ is a private workspace for running a theatre production. Use it for that. Only upload things you have the right to upload — scripts, scores and recordings are almost always licensed, and those licences are yours to hold, not ours. If you break that, the consequences are yours, not ours.
One word does double duty in theatre, so these terms fix it:
Stage Company™ is operated by Theatre and Company, ABN 24 224 491 951, in New South Wales, Australia (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to every person who uses it, and to your production company.
By joining a production, signing in, or uploading anything, you accept these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of your production company, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
You keep ownership of everything you upload or write. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store, copy, display and transmit your content to the members of your own production, and to make the backups and derived files the app needs (thumbnails, watermarked previews, exports).
When you upload anything, you promise us that:
Consent given at sign-up. When a member joins a production they agree that photos, video and audio taken during it may be used for that production's purposes — rehearsal records, production archives and promoting the show — by your production company. For a member under 18, the parent or guardian who operates the account gives that agreement on the child's behalf when they join. That consent is recorded against the membership, and it covers your production company's own records as well as what appears inside the app.
It is not open-ended. It is limited to that production's purposes, it does not extend to selling images or licensing them to anyone else, and it can be withdrawn: a member — or a parent for their child — can ask the production team to take a particular image down, and we ask production companies to honour that. Consent given here is not a substitute for any separate release your venue, photographer or funding body requires.
Licensed performance material. Scripts, scores, libretti, orchestrations, backing tracks and cast recordings are normally licensed on terms that restrict copying and distribution — often including digital copies. Many perusal and hire materials forbid duplication outright. Holding the right licence, reading its terms, and deciding what may be uploaded is your production company's responsibility. Stage Company™ does not grant, replace, extend or police performance or reproduction rights, and uploading something here is not evidence that you are licensed to do so.
You agree to indemnify us — that is, to cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees — for any claim brought against us that arises from content you or your production uploaded, or from your breach of these terms. Where your production company operates the production, that organisation is responsible for the content its members upload to it.
This does not limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If you believe something in Stage Company™ infringes your copyright or other rights, tell us and we will act promptly. Email copyright@stagecompany.app with:
On a complete notice we will remove or disable access to the material promptly, tell the production that uploaded it, and give them a right of reply. Productions that repeatedly infringe will have their access ended. We keep a record of notices and what we did about them.
Don't use Stage Company™ to harass anyone, to store material unrelated to running a production, to attempt to reach another production's data, to probe or interfere with the service, or to break the law. Do not upload anything unlawful, or anything sexual or abusive involving a minor. We may suspend or end access where these terms are broken, and we will report conduct we are legally required to report.
Production teams control who joins their production and what roles they hold. How members treat each other inside a production is a matter for that company, but tell us if something needs our attention.
How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: sensitive fields are encrypted, productions can export their records at any time, and you can delete your own account whenever you like.
Stage Company™ is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and it is not a substitute for your own records. Take your own exports of anything you cannot afford to lose — the app offers them, and an owner closing a production is prompted to take one first.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of Stage Company™ is limited to the amount you have paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or, where nothing has been paid, to resupplying the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
Who pays. Plans are paid for by your production company, never by the people in its productions. They are sold by the operator named above. Every price is in Australian dollars and includes GST, and every payment comes with a tax invoice.
The free trial. A company's first fortnight on the Community plan is free and needs no card. It starts when the company's first production is set up and runs two productions at once. There is one free fortnight per person founding companies: a second company they found shares the first one's. The Pro rooms are not part of the trial.
What a plan covers. A plan (Community or Pro, monthly or annual) covers the company with two productions running at once. Each further production running at the same time is charged at the extra-production price on the price sheet, from the day it starts and only for the days it runs; its charge stops when it is paused or archived. Paused and archived productions stay readable at no charge.
Paying and renewing. Cards are taken by our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. A plan is paid in advance and renews automatically at the end of each month or year until it is cancelled.
If a payment fails. We try the card once more two days later. While a payment is owed, the company's productions are locked: nothing is deleted, the owners can still take their records home, and everything reopens as soon as the payment goes through.
Cancelling and refunds. You can cancel any time from the Billing page. The plan runs to the end of the period already paid for, then stops; the unused part of a period is not refunded. A first payment is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of it. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including to a refund for a major failure.
Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price changes. A change never applies mid-term: it takes effect at your next renewal after the notice.
Education pricing. Schools pay the education price, switched on with the school's ABN. We may ask for evidence that a company is a school, and switch education pricing off where it doesn't apply.
When the payer leaves. The card belongs to a person; the plan belongs to the company. If the owner whose card pays hands the company on or deletes their account, their card is not charged again: the plan ends at the close of the period already paid for, unless another owner puts their own card on first.
You may stop using Stage Company™ at any time and delete your account from Account settings. If your card pays for a plan, deleting your account ends that plan at the close of the period you have paid for. Your production company may close its production, which removes it for everyone in it; its plan keeps running until it is cancelled from the Billing page. We may end access where these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
We may update these terms. When we do, the version number above changes and material changes are notified in the app. Continuing to use Stage Company™ after that means accepting the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction.
